Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response provides a summary of the data, but it fails to meet the requirements for a high band score due to inaccurate reporting and subjective commentary. For example, the student describes the 16-20 age group's internet usage as 'very harmful for health' and mentions an 'impact on body of females.' These are personal opinions, not objective data analysis. Furthermore, the data reporting is inconsistent; the student mentions '8 hours' for the 11-15 age group, but the table likely shows different values, and the comparison between groups is often confusing. The overview is present but lacks a clear, analytical focus on the main trends, instead listing figures in a repetitive manner.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The response is organized into paragraphs, but the flow of ideas is often disjointed. While cohesive devices like 'Firstly,' 'Moreover,' and 'However' are used, they are sometimes applied mechanically or incorrectly. For instance, 'Furthermore is that age group of 31-50' is grammatically awkward and disrupts the logical progression. The referencing is occasionally unclear, and the transition between the overview and the body paragraphs is abrupt. The structure follows a basic pattern, but the lack of sophisticated linking between the data points limits the overall coherence of the report.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. The student relies heavily on basic phrasing such as 'spent... on internet' and 'age group of.' There are also instances of inappropriate word choice, such as 'more addictable,' which is not standard English. The attempt to use more descriptive language is hindered by inaccuracies, such as 'calibrated into hours' and 'make impact on body.' To improve, the student should focus on using a wider range of verbs and nouns related to data description, such as 'fluctuated,' 'peaked,' 'accounted for,' and 'proportion.'

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'females uses internet') and tense usage (e.g., 'will spent'). Sentence structures are generally simple, and attempts at complex sentences often result in errors, such as 'The last one is over 51 who uses internet only 2 hours and females spent 3 hours on the internet respectively.' Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing commas and incorrect capitalization. The student needs to focus on basic sentence construction and ensuring consistent tense usage when describing data.
