IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The table gives information about the average hours spent on the Internet by European people of different age groups.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The table illustrates data of the average time invested on internet by European people of different ages. Time unit is given in hours.

Overall, the table has six age groups of two genders (Male and Female). The youngest users are 11 years old and the oldest users are 51 years old or more that 51 years. People of 16 to 20 age group use the most internet. On the contrast, people of 51 years or more use the least internet.

At first, the most young age group, 11 to 15 years male and female use internet of 8 and 6 hours respectively. Then, the second age group, 16 to 20 years Male and Female use the most internet by time, which is 19 and 18 hours respectively. Afterwards, in 21 to 25 age group a significant reduction in time of internet use can be seen which is 7 hours for Male and 5 hours for Female.

Thereafter, the next two groups show almost similar data. They show that, 26 to 50 years old Male and Female use internet for 3 to 4 hours. Lastly, Males and Females of 51 years or more, use the least amount of internet which is 2 and 3 hours respectively.
