Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response attempts to summarize the data but fails to accurately interpret the figures. You have confused the units, referring to percentages when the prompt clearly indicates 'average hours'. Furthermore, the data points selected are often inaccurate; for example, you state the 51+ age group spends '2 percent' and '3 percent', which misrepresents the provided table. While you identify some trends, the lack of precision in reporting the data significantly hinders the task achievement. To improve, ensure you carefully read the axis labels and units provided in the prompt and double-check your data extraction to ensure it matches the visual information exactly.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. The transition between the overview and the body paragraphs is disjointed, and some sentences, such as 'When compared between both genders', are incomplete or lack a clear connection to the preceding information. Cohesive devices are used, but they are often repetitive or used incorrectly, such as 'While as' and 'Till age 20'. The overall structure lacks a clear flow, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison of the data. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear focus would enhance the coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is somewhat limited and repetitive. You frequently use the phrase 'time spent' and 'age group', which restricts the range of your writing. There are also inaccuracies in word choice, such as using 'percent' instead of 'hours' and 'tremendous decline' to describe a change in data, which is slightly hyperbolic for this context. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use a wider variety of synonyms and more precise terminology related to data description, such as 'fluctuation', 'proportion', or 'significant decrease', while ensuring that the units of measurement are correctly identified.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains several grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'the information... shows' and 'Females spent lesser time'. The sentence structure is often simplistic, and there are errors in preposition usage and article omission (e.g., 'on Internet' instead of 'on the Internet'). While you attempt some complex structures, they are often marred by errors. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring correct subject-verb agreement, and using articles appropriately. Proofreading for common errors like these will help improve your overall accuracy.
