Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the score. Because the text is only 87 words long, the information is severely underdeveloped. While you have attempted to identify some main features, such as the high usage among teenagers and low usage among the 51+ age group, the report is incomplete. You have not provided a comprehensive summary of all data points, and the analysis stops abruptly. To improve, you must ensure you cover all categories presented in the table and provide a more thorough comparison of the data to meet the length requirement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The response is too short to demonstrate effective paragraphing or a logical progression of ideas. While there is a basic attempt at an introduction and an overview, the lack of development makes it difficult to assess your ability to organize information. You use some basic cohesive devices like 'Overall' and 'While', but the transition between the overview and the specific data points is abrupt. To improve, you should structure your essay into clear paragraphs: an introduction, an overview of the main trends, and two body paragraphs detailing specific comparisons.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. You use basic terms like 'spent more time' and 'use', which are functional but lack the precision expected in an academic report. There are also several spelling errors, such as 'cateogorized', 'brakcet', 'accross', and 'Childeren'. These errors, combined with the limited range of vocabulary, restrict your ability to convey information with precision. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of reporting verbs and nouns related to data, such as 'figures', 'demographics', 'proportion', and 'exceed'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains several grammatical errors that hinder clarity. For example, 'spent more time on internet' is missing the definite article 'the', and 'Regard to highest use' is grammatically incorrect. Your sentence structures are very simple, and there is a lack of complex sentence forms. The punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly in the final sentence where the list ends abruptly with a comma. To improve, focus on using articles correctly, ensuring subject-verb agreement, and incorporating a wider range of complex sentence structures to describe trends.
