Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response provides a clear overview of the main trends, identifying that internet usage is highest among teenagers and lowest among older age groups. You have selected key features and made relevant comparisons between genders and age groups. However, the report is somewhat mechanical, listing data points rather than synthesising them into a more analytical summary. To improve, ensure you group data more effectively to highlight the overall patterns rather than listing every single figure. The task is addressed, but the development of the main features could be more sophisticated to reach a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Regarding', 'Similarly', and 'while', which help the flow of information. However, the progression of ideas is occasionally hindered by repetitive sentence structures and some awkward phrasing, such as 'In individual of 16-20 years of age group'. The use of referencing is sometimes unclear, and the transition between sentences could be smoother to create a more cohesive narrative. Overall, the structure is functional but lacks a variety of linking words.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing you to convey the necessary information about age groups and hours spent. However, the range is limited and repetitive; for example, you frequently use 'used' and 'spent' to describe internet activity. There are also some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'teen age group' instead of 'teenagers' or 'adolescents'. To achieve a higher score, you should aim to use a wider range of synonyms and more precise terminology related to data reporting, such as 'figures', 'proportions', or 'time allocation'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors throughout the text, such as 'male used 8 hours internet' (missing articles and prepositions) and 'the older age group internet usage as the lowest' (missing verb). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary periods in the middle of sentences. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to affect the clarity of your writing. Increasing the variety of sentence structures and focusing on basic subject-verb agreement will help improve your score.
