The table gives information about the average hours spent on the Internet by European people of different age groups.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.5)

The table illustrates the average number of hours that people in different age groups in Europe spend using the Internet.

Overall, younger Europeans spend much more time online than older people. The amount of time spent on the Internet decreases gradually as age increases, with the youngest age group recording the highest average and the oldest group the lowest.

People aged 16–24 spend the greatest number of hours on the Internet, making them the most active users. Those in the 25–34 age group rank second, although they spend slightly less time online. Internet usage continues to decline among middle-aged adults, with individuals aged 35–44 and 45–54 spending a moderate number of hours online compared with younger users.

The lowest figures are recorded among older adults. People aged 55–64 use the Internet for fewer hours, while those aged 65 and above spend the least time online.
