Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response attempts to address the task but fails to provide a clear overview or accurately report the data. The information is presented in a fragmented manner, and the inclusion of subjective commentary (e.g., 'it badly effected their daliy lives') is inappropriate for an Academic Task 1 report, which requires objective analysis. Several data points are misread or poorly described, such as the vague reference to '51 plus' and the lack of clear comparison between the age groups. The response lacks a summary of the main trends, which is essential for a higher band score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The essay lacks a logical structure. While there are paragraph breaks, the progression of ideas is disjointed. Cohesive devices are either missing or used incorrectly, leading to a lack of flow between sentences. For example, the transition 'The second gender' is confusing and does not logically connect to the previous paragraph. The referencing is often unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison of data points across the different age groups.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The vocabulary is very limited and often inaccurate. There are frequent spelling errors (e.g., 'Europeean', 'daliy', 'tecnology', 'literlally') and word choice issues (e.g., 'becoming more addict', 'less rarher than'). The range of vocabulary is insufficient to convey the data precisely, relying on repetitive and basic phrasing. The student struggles to use appropriate terminology for describing trends or statistical data, which significantly impacts the clarity of the report.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede communication. Sentence structures are simple and often contain major errors in subject-verb agreement, article usage, and word order (e.g., 'the amount of male was 8', 'people were donig works'). There is a lack of complex sentence structures, and the existing sentences are often poorly constructed. Punctuation is also inconsistent, which further detracts from the overall quality of the writing.
