Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response provides a clear overview and identifies key trends. However, it fails to include any specific data points from the table. To reach a higher band, you must support your descriptions with figures (e.g., '16-20 year olds spent 25 hours per week'). Without data, the response remains a general summary rather than a report of the information provided. While the main features are identified, the lack of supporting evidence means the task is only partially addressed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is logically organized into an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. There is a clear progression of ideas. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive (e.g., 'Moreover', 'In conclusion', 'However'). The referencing is generally clear, but the flow between sentences could be improved by using more varied linking words and better integration of the comparative data. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the overview from the specific details.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. You rely on basic phrasing such as 'on top', 'spent least time', and 'drastic change'. There are also some awkward collocations, such as 'female consider to spent more time', which is grammatically and lexically incorrect. To improve, you should incorporate more precise academic vocabulary related to data description, such as 'predominant', 'marginal', or 'a significant disparity'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. For example, 'male and female of different age groups of European population' lacks articles, and 'female consider to spent more time' contains incorrect verb forms. There are also issues with subject-verb agreement and pluralization (e.g., 'teen age', 'elder European demographic group'). While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of errors prevents the response from reaching a higher band.
