Average hours spent on the Internet by European people of different age groups

Student answer (Band 4.0)

The table illustrate the average hours spent on the internet by European peoples of different age groups.

Firstly, the number European peoples of age 11-15 which includes 8 males and 6 females and comparitively more to the peoples of age 21-25 in which have 7 males and 5 females. Although, the peoples of age 26-30 and 31-50 have no big different it seems both groups are similar.

Nevertheless, the peoples of age 16-20 in which we have 19 males and 18 females the peoples is this age called teenagers was steady increasingly hours compare to others. This age groups people spent giant number of hours on internet while the number of 51+ ages people, because they old and not comfortable with modern technology like internet.

My opinion is that the number of 16-20 age groups people are spent more hours to other age groups people and i believe spending more hours on internet can change your lifecycle and your health.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response attempts to summarize the data but fails to provide a clear overview or effectively highlight the main trends. The description of the data is often inaccurate or confusing, such as the comparison between the 11-15 and 21-25 age groups. Furthermore, the inclusion of personal opinion in the final paragraph is inappropriate for an Academic Task 1 report, which requires an objective summary of the provided information. The analysis lacks a logical structure, and the interpretation of the data is hindered by unclear reporting of the figures.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The response is difficult to follow due to poor sentence structure and a lack of logical progression. While some linking words like 'Firstly' and 'Nevertheless' are used, they are often placed incorrectly or do not serve to connect ideas logically. The paragraphing is present but does not effectively group related information. The referencing is frequently unclear, making it difficult for the reader to track which age group or data point is being discussed. Overall, the flow of information is disjointed.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The vocabulary is very limited and repetitive. There are frequent errors in word choice and word form, such as 'peoples' used repeatedly instead of 'people' or 'age groups', and 'steady increasingly hours' which is grammatically and lexically incorrect. The phrase 'giant number of hours' is inappropriate for an academic report. The student struggles to use precise terminology to describe data trends, relying on basic and often inaccurate descriptors. The vocabulary is insufficient to convey the information clearly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'The table illustrate'), incorrect sentence construction (e.g., 'the number European peoples... which includes 8 males'), and missing articles or prepositions. The attempt at complex sentences often results in fragmented or run-on structures that are difficult to parse. Punctuation is also inconsistent. The range of structures is very limited, and the high frequency of errors makes the text difficult to read.
