Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response covers the main features of the data, such as the highest and lowest usage groups. However, the reporting is inconsistent and contains factual errors based on the provided data. For instance, you state the 26-30 and 31-50 groups are the 'least engaged,' yet the 51+ group is clearly the lowest. Additionally, the description of the 21-15 age group is confusing and contains a typo. While you attempt to make comparisons, the lack of clarity in identifying trends and the inaccurate reporting of figures prevent a higher score. To improve, ensure you carefully verify the data points before writing and focus on grouping information logically rather than listing every figure.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. The transition between the overview and the body paragraphs is abrupt, and the internal structure of the second body paragraph is repetitive and mechanical. You rely on basic cohesive devices like 'In addition to this' and 'Moreover,' which feel forced. The referencing is sometimes unclear, particularly when discussing the age groups, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison. Improving the use of cohesive devices and ensuring each paragraph has a clear, distinct focus would significantly enhance the flow of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is somewhat limited and repetitive. You frequently use phrases like 'average hours' and 'age group' without much variation. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'have spend excessive time' (should be 'spend an excessive amount of time') and 'usage ratio' (which is not the most precise term for this context). While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of a wider range of vocabulary and the persistent errors in word form and collocation restrict the score. Try to incorporate more precise verbs and nouns to describe trends, such as 'fluctuate,' 'peak,' or 'minimal.'
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'people in the age brackets... is least engaged' (should be 'are') and 'the age 26-30 have same usage' (should be 'has the same'). Additionally, there are errors in pluralization and article usage, such as '2hour and 3 hour' (should be '2 hours and 3 hours'). While you attempt some complex sentence structures, they are often faulty. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement would help improve your accuracy.
