Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers all parts of the task by identifying main features and making comparisons. However, the reporting of data is sometimes inaccurate or confusing. For example, stating 'most of teenagers use internet' is a vague generalisation, and the description of the 11-15 age group as '8 hour on average' lacks precision regarding the data points. While the overview is present, it lacks a clear synthesis of the trends. The data presentation is somewhat mechanical, listing figures rather than highlighting significant patterns or contrasting the age groups effectively. To improve, focus on grouping data logically and ensuring the figures cited are clearly linked to the correct categories.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The response is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat repetitive and occasionally mechanical, such as the frequent use of 'by males' and 'by females'. The transition between sentences is sometimes abrupt, making the flow feel disjointed. For instance, the jump from the 16-20 age group to the adult group lacks a smooth logical connector. While the paragraphing is sufficient, the internal cohesion within paragraphs could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and better referencing to avoid repetitive sentence structures.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but remains quite basic and repetitive. Phrases like 'use internet' and 'average hours' are used repeatedly throughout the text. There are also some awkward collocations, such as 'usage of internet per hour' and 'senior citizen with age group 51 above'. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use a more varied range of vocabulary, such as 'expenditure of time', 'the highest consumption', or 'a significant decline'. The current range is sufficient to convey the meaning, but it lacks the flexibility and precision required for higher scores.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Examples include '8 hour on average spent by males an 6 hour by females' (missing verbs and incorrect conjunction), '19 hours from 16 year to 20 is spend' (subject-verb agreement and tense error), and 'senior citizen... use least hours' (pluralisation error). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to distract the reader. Focusing on subject-verb agreement, correct preposition usage, and consistent verb tenses will significantly improve the clarity and accuracy of your writing.
