Overall4.5

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response covers all age groups provided in the data, but it fails to provide a clear overview or identify significant trends, which is a requirement for Task 1. The writing is overly repetitive, listing data points individually rather than synthesizing information or making meaningful comparisons. While the figures are generally accurate, the lack of an introductory summary or a concluding synthesis means the response does not fully address the requirements of an academic report. The approach is mechanical and lacks the analytical depth expected at higher bands.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.5

The text is organized into very short, repetitive paragraphs, which makes the structure feel disjointed and mechanical. The use of cohesive devices is extremely limited, with almost every paragraph starting with the repetitive phrase 'Now i would like to talk about'. There is no logical progression or flow between the paragraphs. Referencing is also weak, with frequent misuse of 'their' instead of 'there'. The lack of linking words or varied transition signals makes the text difficult to read as a cohesive piece of writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.5

The vocabulary is very basic and highly repetitive. The student uses the same phrases ('spent hours on internet', 'European boys and girl') throughout the entire response. There is no attempt to use a range of vocabulary to describe trends, such as 'fluctuated', 'peaked', 'remained stable', or 'surpassed'. The spelling errors, such as 'ayears', and the consistent misuse of 'their' for 'there' indicate a limited control over lexical items and basic grammatical conventions, which restricts the ability to convey information with precision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5

The grammatical range is very limited, consisting almost entirely of simple sentences. There are frequent errors in subject-verb agreement ('who’s spent', 'boy use internet'), article usage, and pluralization ('different age group'). Punctuation is also problematic, with missing spaces after periods and commas. The persistent confusion between 'their' and 'there' is a recurring error that affects the clarity of the sentences. Complex structures are absent, and the overall control of grammar is insufficient to support clear communication of the data.
