Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response provides a clear overview and selects key features, such as the highest and lowest usage groups. However, the task achievement is limited by inaccurate reporting of the data. For instance, the prompt refers to 'Internet' usage, but the student repeatedly refers to 'social media,' which is a misinterpretation of the task. Additionally, the description of the data is sometimes confusing, such as the claim that age 11 is 'closer to the age 21-25' group, which is not supported by the figures. While the main trends are identified, the lack of precision in describing the data and the misidentification of the topic prevent a higher score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The response is organized into paragraphs, but the flow between ideas is often mechanical and sometimes confusing. The use of cohesive devices is limited and occasionally awkward, such as 'The considerable thing is this that there is no such distant in number'. Referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison between age groups. While there is an overall progression, the lack of sophisticated linking words and the repetitive sentence structures hinder the logical flow of the report.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for a higher band. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and incorrect word choices, such as 'no such distant' instead of 'no such difference' and 'community people' instead of 'individuals' or 'people'. The student relies on basic descriptors and struggles with collocations. While the meaning is generally conveyed, the lexical range is limited, and the errors in word choice are noticeable throughout the text.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('This table illustrate'), incorrect preposition usage ('in term of'), and awkward sentence construction ('a number less than the previous one in terms of males'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of parentheses and commas. While the errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to distract the reader and indicate a lack of control over complex structures.
