IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The table gives information about the average hours spent on the Internet by European people of different age groups.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.5)

The given table illustrates average hours that Europeans of diverse age groups spend on the internet.

Overall , males and females aged 16-20 spent most hours on internet whereas the least time was dedicated by people aged 50 and over. Also, it is observed that males passed more hours on internet as compared to females.

Europeans aged 16-20 devoted highest number of hours to the internet which were recorded as 19 by males and 18 by females. The other age group which passed more time on internet was 11-15 , where boys spent 8 hours and girls spent 6 hours. Both men and women in their early twenties , spent 12 hours on the internet.

Individuals aged 26-30 passed equal number of hours on the internet that was 4 by both the genders.Old people aged 55 and over dedicated only 5 hours to the internet , which were noted as 2 by males and 3 by females.The age group 31-50 spent 7 hours collectively on the internet.
