Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers all parts of the task by identifying key trends and making relevant comparisons between age groups and genders. You successfully highlighted the peak usage in the 16-20 age bracket and the decline in older groups. However, the analysis is slightly hampered by minor inaccuracies in data reporting. For instance, you stated that males spent more time on the internet in all groups except the 51+ category, but the data shows females actually spent more time in the 31-50 and 51+ categories. Improving the precision of your data interpretation would elevate this to a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs focusing on specific age ranges. You use some cohesive devices like 'In addition', 'In contrast', and 'Additionally' to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally interrupted by awkward phrasing, such as 'whose age between 16 and 20' and 'Age above 21 years people'. The referencing is sometimes mechanical, and the progression of ideas could be smoother if you used a wider variety of linking words to connect the comparisons more fluidly.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'recorded', 'accounted for', and 'categories'. However, there are some word choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'age is equal to 51 or above' and 'expect 51 or above age people group' (likely meant 'except'). To improve, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensuring that your word forms are correct. The current range is sufficient to convey the main points, but it lacks the sophistication required for a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the reader's flow. Examples include 'Age between 26 and 30 show the similar average time' (subject-verb agreement) and 'Males and females accounted the average hours is 19 and 18' (incorrect verb structure). While the meaning remains clear, these errors are persistent. To reach a higher band, you should focus on subject-verb agreement, correct preposition usage, and ensuring that your complex sentences are constructed accurately without missing auxiliary verbs.
