Student answer (Band 6.0)
The table illustrates the number of hours both male and female of different age group spends on internet in Europe. There are 6 categories of age group mentioned in the table ranging from 11 up til 51+ years.
It can be clearly seen that children as well as the elder people browse internet daily. The average time being spent on the internet between the age group 11-15 in males is 8hours however in females is 6 hours. It clearly shows that small boys spends more time on internet as compared to the girls. Next is the age group of 16-20 years, this is the category where most the time is consumed by the internet and this age groups remains higher than others mentioned in the table. Average hours male spend on browsing internet in this age group is 19 hours however females spend 18 hours on the daily basis. This explains that teenagers use internet at higher pace than others. Next age group is 21-25 years where people are mostly busy in university, making their careers and finding jobs, so the average hours being spent on the internet by males of this age group is 7 hours and females spend 5 hours.
Now comes a mature age where people are mostly busy settling their families and thinking about having children. This is 26-30 age group where the males and females comes on the same ground as they spend 4 hours each on the daily basis. After this age group the amount of time spent on internet among females has increased as in the age group 31-50 years, females spend 4 hours on daily basis while males spend 3 hours daily. Lastly, people with 51+ age spends the least hours on internet which is 2 hours by male and 3 hours by female.
In conclusion, it is very evident from the fact as women age past 30 the time being spent on the internet on daily basis rises up.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers all parts of the task and provides a clear overview of the data. You have successfully identified the main trends, such as the peak in the 16-20 age group and the general decline in internet usage with age. However, the report is somewhat descriptive, listing data points rather than synthesising them into a more analytical summary. To reach a higher band, focus on grouping data more effectively and highlighting the most significant comparisons rather than detailing every single age category in isolation. The conclusion is a bit narrow, focusing only on one specific trend rather than summarising the overall findings.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The response is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used effectively to separate different age groups. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive (e.g., 'Next is...', 'Now comes...', 'Lastly...'). The flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and better referencing to avoid repeating the same phrases. While the progression of ideas is clear, the transition between the descriptive body paragraphs and the conclusion could be smoother to provide a more cohesive summary of the data.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey the information clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'browse', 'consumed', and 'mature age'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are instances of slightly unnatural phrasing, such as 'at higher pace' instead of 'at a higher rate' or 'comes on the same ground' instead of 'spend the same amount of time'. To improve, try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary and collocations to describe trends and data fluctuations, which would demonstrate a more flexible control of language.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'both male and female... spends', 'small boys spends', 'people with 51+ age spends') and article usage (e.g., 'browse internet', 'on the daily basis'). These errors are noticeable but do not significantly impede communication. To achieve a higher band, focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and attempt to vary your sentence structures further by using more complex subordinating clauses to link your ideas.
