Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the score. While you have attempted to report some data, the summary is incomplete and lacks a clear overview of the main trends. The description of the data is disjointed, and the interpretation of the figures is confusing; for instance, describing the 21-25 age group as a 'plummet' without clearly establishing the baseline or context makes the report difficult to follow. To improve, ensure you provide a clear summary of the overall trends and include all necessary data points while meeting the length requirement.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response lacks logical progression. The paragraphs are fragmented, and the use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes inaccurate, such as using 'Likewise' to introduce a drop in figures that does not logically follow the previous point. The structure is more of a list of observations rather than a cohesive report. To improve, use linking words to connect ideas more naturally and ensure that each paragraph has a clear focus, such as grouping age ranges or comparing genders, rather than listing them sentence by sentence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. Phrases like 'it was a drop of' are used repeatedly, which hinders the flow of the writing. While you attempted some descriptive verbs like 'skyrockets' and 'plummeted', these were used incorrectly in the context of the data provided. To achieve a higher band, you should aim to use a wider range of vocabulary to describe trends, such as 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', or 'reached a peak', and ensure that these terms are used accurately to reflect the data shown in the table.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains several grammatical errors that affect clarity. There are issues with subject-verb agreement and sentence structure, such as 'The age group from 11-15 has 8 males and 6 females', which is imprecise. Additionally, many sentences are incomplete or lack proper punctuation. The range of structures is very limited, relying mostly on simple sentences. To improve, focus on using a variety of sentence structures, including complex sentences, and ensure that your subjects and verbs agree. Proofreading for basic errors in tense and article usage will also help improve your accuracy.
