Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers all parts of the task and provides a clear overview. You have successfully identified the main trends, such as the high usage among the 16-20 age group and the lower usage among older demographics. However, the report could be improved by grouping the data more effectively. For instance, instead of listing every figure, you could group the age categories by usage levels (high, medium, low) to provide a more analytical summary. The comparison between genders is present, but the structure is slightly repetitive. To reach a higher band, ensure that the data selection highlights the most significant differences rather than just listing all the numbers provided in the table.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The response is logically organized with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'Looking at the information in more detail' and 'The remaining age groups', which help the flow. However, the transition between sentences is sometimes mechanical. For example, the phrase 'Last ones are males and females' is slightly awkward and lacks formal cohesion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the overview from the detailed analysis. To improve, try to vary your linking words and ensure that referencing (e.g., 'the first age group') is always clear to the reader to avoid ambiguity.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'allocated', 'demographics', and 'noticeable'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are instances of slightly unnatural phrasing, such as '16-20 aged people' instead of 'people in the 16-20 age group'. There is also a minor error in the phrasing 'Last ones are', which is too informal for an academic report. To achieve a higher score, focus on using more precise collocations and a wider variety of reporting verbs and nouns to describe the data trends without repeating the same structures.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical slips. For example, 'both genders spent more time on the internet was 16-20 aged people' is grammatically incorrect; it should be 'the age group that spent the most time on the internet was 16-20'. Additionally, there is a missing space after the period in '1 hour less.the second place'. These errors occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on subject-verb agreement and ensuring that your complex sentences are constructed with correct punctuation and conjunctions.
