Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response covers the main features of the data, such as the peak usage in the 16-20 age group for both genders. However, the report is incomplete; it ends abruptly mid-sentence ('furthermore'), failing to provide a full summary or cover all data points effectively. While the main trends are identified, the lack of a conclusion and the unfinished nature of the text prevent a higher score. To improve, ensure you complete your analysis and provide a clear overview of the data trends rather than just listing figures.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the progression is hindered by the incomplete final sentence. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Overall', 'Starting with', and 'Moreover', but they are sometimes used mechanically or inaccurately (e.g., 'the table ensure that'). The referencing is occasionally unclear, and the abrupt ending significantly disrupts the flow of the response. To improve, focus on using transition words more naturally and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, completed thought.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is somewhat limited and repetitive. There are several instances of awkward word choices, such as 'most consumers' instead of 'highest consumers' and 'young mans' instead of 'young men'. The phrasing 'the table consider' is also inappropriate for describing data. While the meaning is generally clear, the range of vocabulary is narrow and lacks the precision required for a higher band. Focus on using more academic collocations and precise terminology for describing statistical data.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('the table ensure', 'the table consider') and incorrect pluralization ('young mans'). Sentence structures are mostly simple, and there are errors in preposition usage, such as 'ahead from the females' instead of 'ahead of the females'. While the meaning is usually understandable, the frequency of errors is high, which impacts the overall quality of the writing. Aim to proofread for basic subject-verb agreement and plural forms.
