IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The table gives information about the average hours spent on the Internet by European people of different age groups.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The table describes the average hours spent on the internet among European females and males in six different age groups.

In general, males are seen to be more involved in all age groups as compared to females, with an exception at age 31 to 50 and at age 50 or above. Both genders were seen to spend more hours during early adulthood, where males and females utilised 19 and 18 hours, respectively, between the ages of 16 and 20.

Both genders, at during 11 to 15, males spent 8 hours, whereas females spent 6 hours on internet activity. It can be seen clearly that the duration spent on the internet has dramatically fallen as compared to 16-20, where it was 7 and 5 hours for males and females, respectively.

From 26 to 30 age, the ratio between both genders was the same, where it was 4 hours spent on the internet by both males and females. People aged 51 or above have spent less time on the internet compared to all other groups, which was 2 hours for males and 3 hours for females.
