Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers the main features of the data, such as the peak usage in the 16-20 age group and the lowest usage in the 51+ category. However, the report lacks a clear, analytical overview. The introduction is poorly phrased, and the data presentation is somewhat mechanical, listing figures rather than synthesizing trends or making meaningful comparisons. While the task is addressed, the lack of a strong summary and the repetitive structure of the sentences prevent it from reaching a higher band. To improve, focus on grouping data logically and highlighting significant differences or similarities between age groups and genders rather than just listing numbers.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the flow between sentences is often disjointed. The use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'and' to connect clauses. The referencing is occasionally unclear, and the progression of ideas feels like a list rather than a cohesive report. Paragraphing is present but could be more effectively used to separate different trends or age brackets. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear thematic focus would significantly enhance the coherence of the writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but remains quite basic and repetitive. Phrases like 'spent by' and 'on the internet' are used repeatedly, which limits the range. There are some minor errors in word choice, such as 'The visualize the information', which should be 'The table visualizes the information'. To achieve a higher score, you should aim to use a wider variety of verbs and nouns to describe data, such as 'allocate', 'devote', 'figures', or 'proportions', and avoid repeating the same phrasing throughout the text.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Issues include incorrect article usage ('the the most of most of time'), subject-verb agreement, and awkward phrasing ('If we take a look to the least time'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some run-on sentences and unnecessary spaces. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors is noticeable. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement and article usage would help improve the accuracy of your writing.
