IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The table gives information about the average hours spent on the Internet by European people of different age groups.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The given table provides data about the average hours spent on the internet by European people of different age group. A glance at the table reveals that in both genders (Men and Women) age group 16-20 send the highest time on internet, while over 50 had the lowest time spend on internet.

Looking first at the younger age groups, males aged 11-15 spent an average of 8 hours on the internet, compared with 6 hours for female. The figure increased considerably among those aged 16-20, reaching 19 for male and 18 for females. However, internet use then fell in age group between 21 and 25, 7 hours for males and 5 hours for female.

Moving ahead to age group 26-30, the figured showed the identical features for both male and female at 4 hours. Furthermore, the age group of 31-50, the internet use was 3 for male and 4 for female. Finally, those aged over 51 recorded the lowest figure, at 2 hours for males and 3 hours for female.
