Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which negatively impacts the score. While you have identified the main features of the data, such as the peak usage in the 16-20 age group, the analysis is somewhat superficial. You have attempted to report on the different age groups, but the description of the data is inconsistent and lacks a clear, logical structure. The overview is present but could be more effectively integrated. To improve, ensure you provide a more comprehensive summary of the trends and make more precise comparisons between the age groups rather than simply listing figures. The under-length penalty is applied here as the response is below the required minimum.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the logical progression of ideas is weak. The use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes mechanical, such as 'Getting in to details' and 'Probhing further'. The referencing is occasionally unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison between age groups. To improve, use a wider range of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear focus. The transition between sentences is often abrupt, which hinders the flow of the text. Better use of cohesive devices would help to connect your ideas more effectively.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is basic and repetitive, often relying on the same phrases to describe the data. There are several spelling errors, such as 'europen', 'Higest', 'simmilarly', and 'mele', which distract the reader. The word choice is sometimes inaccurate, for example, 'accounted as' is used incorrectly in this context. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use a more varied range of vocabulary to describe trends and comparisons, such as 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', or 'a significant proportion'. Focus on improving your spelling and using more precise terminology for data reporting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('male and female was simmilarly used') and incorrect preposition usage ('spend 8 hours in a day'). The sentence structures are mostly simple, and there is a lack of complex sentence forms. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of apostrophes ('hour's', 'hourse'). These errors occasionally impede the clarity of the information being presented. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence structures and proofreading for common grammatical mistakes, such as verb tense consistency and pluralization.
