Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 5.5)
The table provides data about the average hours invested by the people of different age groups from europe on the internet.
Overall, it is evident from the table that the male under the age of thirty spent more hour than the female and over thirty it is vice versa.
Firstly, it can be seen that the age group of sixteen to twenty of male and female spent around nineteen and eighteen hour respectively surfing on the internet. Two and three are the minimum hour spent by male and female on the internet of the age fifty one plus.
Secondly, the age group between eleven to fifteen invested their time around eight hour by male and six hour by female while surfing on the internet. Interestingly, age group of twenty six to thirty spent same amount of time by male and female. Female over the age of thirties spent more time than male on the internet.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers the main features of the data, such as the age groups and gender comparisons. However, the reporting is somewhat inconsistent. For instance, you mention 'two and three' as minimum hours without clearly specifying which age group they belong to in a way that is easy to follow. The overview is present but could be more precise; stating 'male under the age of thirty spent more hour than the female' is a good start, but it lacks the nuance of the specific data trends. To improve, ensure that all data points are clearly linked to their respective categories and that the comparison is more analytical rather than just listing figures.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use transition signals like 'Firstly' and 'Secondly', which provides a basic framework. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally unclear. For example, the sentence 'Two and three are the minimum hour spent by male and female on the internet of the age fifty one plus' is syntactically awkward, making the connection between the data and the age group difficult to track. Improving the use of cohesive devices to link sentences more fluidly would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it is quite repetitive and lacks precision. You frequently use 'spent' and 'hour' (which should be pluralized as 'hours'). Phrases like 'invested their time' are a good attempt at variety, but 'invested' is not the most natural collocation for time spent on the internet. There are also minor errors in word form and usage, such as 'male' and 'female' being used as nouns rather than adjectives (e.g., 'males' and 'females' or 'male users'). Expanding your range of descriptive verbs and nouns would help elevate your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'male... spent more hour'), pluralization errors (e.g., 'eight hour'), and missing articles (e.g., 'the age group of sixteen to twenty'). The sentence structures are mostly simple, with limited attempts at complex sentences. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors suggests a need for more careful proofreading, particularly regarding plural nouns and basic sentence construction. Focusing on consistent verb tense and noun-number agreement will significantly improve your accuracy.
