Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response covers the main features of the data, such as the high usage among adults and the lower usage among the elderly. However, the report suffers from significant inaccuracies in data interpretation. For instance, you describe 'more adults' as a separate category, which appears to be a misreading of the table labels. Furthermore, the comparisons are often confusing, such as stating 'the more adult individuals are spending less hours then adults', which makes the data difficult to follow. To improve, ensure you clearly identify the age categories provided in the prompt and verify that the figures cited match the table accurately. The overview is present but lacks clarity due to these misinterpretations.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader navigate the information. However, the logical progression is frequently interrupted by confusing phrasing and repetitive sentence structures. While you use some cohesive devices like 'To begin with' and 'Furthermore', the connections between sentences are often weak or illogical. For example, the transition between the overview and the body paragraphs is abrupt. The referencing is also unclear at times, making it difficult to determine which age group is being discussed. Improving the flow between sentences and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is somewhat limited and repetitive. You frequently use the phrase 'spending... hours' and 'using internet', which restricts the range of your language. There are also issues with word choice, such as 'old age people' (more naturally 'the elderly' or 'older age groups') and 'middle age group individuals'. The use of 'then' instead of 'than' is a persistent error throughout the text. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use a wider variety of verbs and nouns to describe the data, such as 'allocate', 'devote', 'figures', or 'proportions', and ensure correct spelling and word usage.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response relies heavily on simple sentence structures. While there are attempts at complex sentences, they are often grammatically flawed, such as 'The more adults, number of males and females who are using internet are equal.' There are frequent errors in subject-verb agreement and preposition usage (e.g., 'spending... by using internet'). The confusion between 'then' and 'than' occurs in almost every paragraph, which is a recurring grammatical error. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like comparative adjectives and prepositions. Increasing the variety of complex structures will also help demonstrate better grammatical control.
