Student answer (Band 5.5)
The provided tabular data illustrates the information about
the how many hours European youth spend average hours
on the internet.
Overall,it is evident that different age group is given in table
with two genders- male and female.Mens of all age groups spend more hours on the internet rather than women.
Observing the tabular data, age group between 16 to 20 young male adults spent 19 hours, followed by 11 to 15
age with 8 hours spent their leisure time on watching mobile phones. When age is incresed the number of hours spent by male that decreased. Age group of 21-25,26-30,31-50 are spent 7 hours,4 hours and 3 hours respectively.Only 2 hours of time spent by 51+ age group people in mens on internet.Furthermore,18 hours of adult females are spent free time on internet.Interestingly, this both age group 26 -30 and 31-50 in European female spent similar hours on the internet. But surprisingly, above the age of 51 females spent 3 hours on the mobile phones.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response identifies the main features, such as the general trend of internet usage decreasing with age and the gender disparity. However, the report lacks clarity in its presentation of data. For instance, the statement '18 hours of adult females are spent free time' is confusing and does not clearly link to the specific age group. Furthermore, the summary is somewhat disjointed, and the comparison between genders is not consistently supported by accurate data points. To reach a higher band, ensure that all figures are clearly attributed to the correct age groups and that the overview provides a more cohesive summary of the primary trends observed in the table.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The response is organised into paragraphs, but the logical flow is hindered by awkward phrasing and repetitive sentence structures. While some cohesive devices like 'Furthermore' and 'Interestingly' are used, they are occasionally placed in contexts that do not effectively link the ideas. The referencing is sometimes unclear, particularly when discussing age groups and gender categories. The progression of information feels mechanical rather than fluid, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison of data points across the different categories. Improving the use of transition signals and ensuring clear subject-referencing would significantly enhance the coherence of the report.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is somewhat limited and repetitive. There are several instances of awkward word choices, such as 'Mens' instead of 'Men' and 'young male adults spent 19 hours' which lacks precision. The phrase 'watching mobile phones' is inaccurate as the task refers to internet usage, not the device itself. While the student attempts to use some comparative language, the range is restricted, and there are errors in word formation and collocation that occasionally impede the clarity of the information being presented. Expanding the range of descriptive verbs and nouns related to data reporting would be beneficial.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues (e.g., 'different age group is given', 'number of hours... that decreased') and incorrect verb tenses. Sentence structures are mostly simple, and attempts at more complex sentences often result in errors, such as 'Only 2 hours of time spent by 51+ age group people in mens on internet'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after commas and periods. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar and sentence construction prevents the response from reaching a higher band.
