IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The table gives information about the average hours spent on the Internet by European people of different age groups.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The table depicts information about the average time consumed by European citizens, units measured in hours, on the internet.

Overall, it is clear that males spent more time on internet compared to females. Adults between the age of 16 and 20 spent their maximum time on using different applications on internet in both genders, whereas, people with the age of 51 or over accounted for the least use of data.

11 to 15 age males spent almost 8 hours on internet, while average 6 hours spent by the female children. The maximum time accounted by 16 to 20 years adults in both genders, which was 19 hours and 18 hours respectively. Mature adults between the age 21 to 25 spent 7 hours , while women of this category spent a bit less time than men, which was 5 hours.

On the other hand, in later age this trend began to decline as people with 26 to 30 years spent 4 hours averagely and it is same in both genders. Average 4 hour spent by the age 31-50 women on internet, while it is 3 hours in men of this category. People with the age of 51 or over spent their least time on data consuming , which was 2hours for men and 3 for old ladies.
