Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response successfully identifies the main features of the data, such as the peak usage among teenagers and the general decline in internet hours as age increases. You have made relevant comparisons between genders and age groups. However, the report could be improved by providing a more precise summary of the data trends. For instance, the statement 'adults above 20 years old, average hours are below 10' is accurate but could be more effectively linked to the specific data points provided. Overall, you have covered all parts of the task well, providing a clear overview and supporting details, which aligns with the requirements for a Band 7.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs that group information by age categories. The progression of ideas is generally smooth. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Overall', 'However', and 'In all age ranges', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the referencing could be more precise (e.g., 'other classes' is a slightly awkward choice of word for age groups). Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different age segments, contributing to a clear overall structure.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'illustrates', 'predominate', and 'exposed to'. There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'distinct age categories' (different age groups would be more natural) and 'spending hours' (usage hours). The phrasing 'most among other classes' is also slightly unnatural. While you attempt to use a variety of vocabulary, the precision is not consistently high enough for a higher band. Nevertheless, the meaning is always clear, and the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the information effectively.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'male and female between 16 and 20 years spent their most of the time' (should be 'spent most of their time') and 'men slightly predominate the spending hours than women' (should be 'predominate over women' or 'spend more hours than women'). Additionally, 'average hours are below 10' lacks a subject. While these errors are noticeable, they do not impede communication. To reach a higher band, you should focus on subject-verb agreement and more accurate prepositional usage.
