Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response provides a basic overview of the data, identifying the highest and lowest age groups. However, the reporting is inconsistent and lacks sufficient detail. While you mention the 16-20 age group and the 51+ group, you fail to provide a comprehensive comparison across all categories. The data is presented in a fragmented way, and some figures are missing or poorly integrated. To improve, ensure you group the data logically (e.g., by age or by gender) and include more specific data points to support your observations, ensuring all parts of the prompt are addressed with greater clarity and depth.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the logical flow is hindered by repetitive phrasing and awkward transitions. The use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes incorrect, such as the overuse of semicolons and the phrase 'Moving towards, remaining information'. The progression of ideas is somewhat disjointed, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison between males and females. To improve, use a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear focus, such as one paragraph for the highest trends and another for the lowest or gender-based comparisons.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, relying heavily on basic terms like 'number of hours', 'highest', and 'lowest'. There are noticeable errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'can be notice' instead of 'can be noticed' and 'spend by the teenagers' instead of 'spent by teenagers'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to convey the information with precision. To reach a higher band, you should incorporate more varied descriptive language, such as 'devoted to', 'allocated to', 'the majority of time', or 'a significant proportion', and focus on accurate word forms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'males and female has a similar number') and verb forms (e.g., 'are spend' instead of 'are spent'). The sentence structures are predominantly simple, and attempts at more complex sentences are often marred by punctuation errors, particularly the misuse of semicolons. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring correct tense usage, and refining your punctuation. Reducing the frequency of these errors is essential for achieving a higher score.
