Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers all key features of the data, including the overall trends and specific age group comparisons. You successfully identified the peak usage in the 16-20 age group and the lowest in the 51+ category. However, the analysis is somewhat mechanical, listing figures rather than synthesizing the information. To reach a higher band, ensure you group the data more effectively to highlight the 'crossover' point where female usage exceeds male usage more clearly. While the main features are reported, the comparison between genders could be more analytical to better demonstrate the 'main features' requirement.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'Overall' and 'Among people aged', which help the flow. However, some transitions are slightly abrupt, such as the start of the final paragraph ('For those aged 26-30...'). The use of referencing is generally clear, but the connection between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words to avoid a repetitive structure. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different age brackets.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to convey the information clearly. You use terms like 'accounted for' and 'respectively' correctly. However, the range is somewhat limited and relies on basic descriptors. To improve, try to incorporate more varied verbs and nouns to describe trends, such as 'surpassed', 'fluctuated', or 'a significant disparity'. There are minor issues with word choice, such as 'took over' which is slightly informal for an academic report. Expanding your range of synonyms for 'spent time' would also enhance the quality of your writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'accounted for highest the average time' (word order) and 'the figure of internet usage is higher from other aged groups' (preposition/comparative error). Additionally, there are missing articles and minor punctuation issues throughout the text. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of prepositions in comparative structures will help improve your accuracy.
