IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The table gives information about the average hours spent on the Internet by European people of different age groups.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 5.5)

The table illustrates the average hours spent on the internet by European individuals of different age groups.

Overall, internet usage among 16-20 was the highest in which the usage declined steadily with the age. Falling to the lowest at the age of 51 and above. While male spent more time on internet than female in younger groups; however, this pattern reversed after age groups of 31 and above

In the age groups of 16-20 considerable spent the highest hours browsing the internet, where male consumed 19 hours and female spent 18 hours. In contrast, age groups above 51 spent the least time on world wide web, male accounted for a mere 2 hours and female constituted 3 hours.

The age groups of 11-15 ranked second highest where male had spent 8 hours and female spent 6 hours. Age groups of 21-25 invested a negligible time, male spent 7 hours and female spent 5 hours, which is considerable lower than that of teenagers group. Age groups of 26-30, where both male and female spent equal time 4 hours. In the age group of 31-50 female had slightly spent more time than male.
