IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The table gives information about the average hours spent on the Internet by European people of different age groups.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 5.5)

The described data of the table reveals the information about the standard time spent on the internet by the European public categorised in different ages.

The age group of 16-20 spent the maximum number of hours i.e, male with 19 hours and female with 18 hours; Whereas, the individuals who are 51+ spends the least time on web with only 2 hours by male and 3 hours by female respectively.Furthermore, the addition of the hours of the age group 21-25, 26-30 and 31-50 is relatively less than the age category of 16-20.

However, both the genders of the age group 26-30 uses cyberspace for equal hours which is 4 hours. Moreover, the average data describes that male spends more time on web with proportion of 43 hours and female has 3 hours less then male i.e, 40 hours.

To sum up, teenagers spends more hours that other age categories and the senior citizens spends minimum hours on internet.
