IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The table gives information about the average hours spent on the Internet by European people of different age groups.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.5)

The shown table illustrates the number of hours spent online in Europe by people with different ages.

Overall, youngsters between 16 to 20 years use more Internet than all the other age groups, whereas people over 51 years old utilise it less than all the other categories.

It can be clearly seen that there are a few gender differences, as males from 11 to 25 years old are online approximately 1 or 2 hours more than the females. People with 26 to 30 years instead, report the same figure with 4 hours each. The gender trend shows variations for the ages from 31 to over 51 years old, as females tend to use the Intenet 1 hour more than the males.

The highest timing of online resources is given to young people from 16 to 20 years, with 19 hours for males and 18 hours for females. Elderly people account for the lowest hour numbers: 2 for males and 3 for females.
