Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The student successfully covers the main features of the table, noting that the 16-20 age group spent the most time on the internet while older groups spent significantly less. The overview is clearly stated, and key comparisons between genders and age groups are made, such as highlighting the peak usage at 19 hours for males and 18 hours for females in the 16-20 demographic. However, there are some minor inaccuracies and awkward phrasing in reporting specific data, such as writing "males among 11-15 years spent 8 and 6 hours on average respectively," which awkwardly conflates male and female figures into a single sentence. Overall, all parts of the prompt are adequately addressed.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The response features a clear overall progression, beginning with an introduction and overview, followed by body paragraphs detailing the data for males and females. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the introduction/overview from the body details. However, cohesive devices are sometimes mechanical or faulty, such as the transition "whereas, the corresponding women into 16-20 age devote 18 hours," which creates a disjointed sentence structure and poor linking between clauses. Referencing is generally clear, but the flow is occasionally disrupted by awkward grammatical ties and punctuation errors.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The student attempts a range of vocabulary suitable for an academic task, using terms like "delineates," "demographics," and "exhibited." However, there are numerous lexical and collocational errors throughout the text. Examples include "individuals devoted the average hours" instead of "average hours devoted by individuals," "among 16-20 demographics," and "amount of period at bottom level." These awkward collocations and word choices restrict the band score. While communication is not heavily impeded, the frequency of lexical inaccuracies prevents the response from reaching a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response includes a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some attempt at varied structures. However, grammatical accuracy is weak, with frequent errors in prepositions, verb forms, and sentence construction. Examples include "adolescents among 16-20 demographics spent... utilising the internet," "51+ aged people, who devoted lowest amount," and mixing present and past tenses inappropriately ("deliniates" versus "spent" and "devote"). Punctuation is also problematic, particularly with dangling clauses and run-on structures. These errors require some effort from the reader to parse, capping the score at 5.0.
