IELTS Writing Task 1 question
The table gives information about the average hours spent on the Internet by European people of different age groups.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 5.5)
The table compares data of European nationals, spent an average hours on internet, data divided in different age groups: 11-15 years, 16-20 years, 21-25 years, 26-30 years, 31-50 years and 51+ years and categorize in differenet genders - male and female.
Overall, 16 - 20 years age group recorded the highest figures while more than 51 years age group shows the lowest figures in both categories. Suprisingly, 26 to 30 years age group consume same time on internet by both the genders.
To begin with, youngest age group have average consumption of internet is 8 hours for male and 6 hours for females. While 16 to 20 age group have maximum consumption of internet as with significant difference from all other categories as male with 19 hours and female with 18 hours.
Secondly, from 21 to 25 age group we can see a gradually decreasing trend of considerable using internet. As 21 to 25 have 7 hours (for males) and 5 (for females) which decrease upto 2 and 3 hours by the oldest group. 26 to 30 years age shows similar data for both male and female with average 4 hours. However, the age group of 31 to 50 shows most unique data as men are consuming less than women by 1 hour.
