The table gives information about the average hours spent on the Internet by European people of different age groups.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The tables provides key information about how European people from various generations spent their time on the internet.

Overall, it is clear that the figures for males and females varied across the different age groups. Males accounted for 19% in the age group of 16-20 while, females contributed at, 18%. In addition, 26-30 category, both maintained the same level.

Looking first at the younger age groups, the proportion of males aged 11-15, comprised 8% followed by females, at 6%. The 16-20 years males and females represented the highest value that is 19% and 18%, respectively. In the 21-25 age category, males constituted 7% while, the figure for females was slightly reduced, at 5%, as they spent less time on the internet.

Turning to the older age groups 26-30, both men and women showed no change, with both standing at 4%. Men aged of 31-50 years recorded a figure of 3% and females from this same age group spent marginally more time on the internet, with the share increasing at, 4%. Moreover, among people aged 51 and over, the percentage of females was fractionally higher at, 3%, whereas, males made up only 2%.
