The table gives information about the average hours spent on the Internet by European people of different age groups.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 7.0)

The table illustrates data of average hours spent online by European people of different age groups.

Overall, males and females between the age 11 and 20 spent the most amount of hours on the internet, while the individuals from 31 to 51+ spends the least amount of time online. It is worth noting that men and women from 26 to 30 spent equal amount of their time online.

The average time spent on internet is considerably high in younger people than older people. For age between 11 to 15, male accounts for 8 hours and female accounts for 6 hours. The average number of hours doubled for individuals between 16 and 20, 19 and 18 hours for men and women respectively. The average usage drops significantly to 7 hours for men and 5 hours for women between the age 21 and 25.

In the next age bracket which 26 to 30, both males and females spend four hours on average on the internet. However, the number remains constant at four hours for women between 31 and 50, while for men it decreased to 3 hours. Lastly, for individuals above the age 51, the total average hours on internet dropped by one for both men and women, at 2 and 3 hours respectively.
