IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The table gives information about the average hours spent on the Internet by European people of different age groups.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The table illustrates the information about the average time devoted on the internet by European people of different age groups.

Overall, it is evident that the highest preference to interenet is given by males and females of age group 16-20, whereas the use of interent was least common in elder people of age group 51+.

Looking first at the figures for 16-20 years age group, it can be seen the male and female spent 19 and 18 hours respectively on internet making it first largest category. It is followed by the age group of 11-15 years in which boys devoted 8 hours and girls devoted 6 hours to internet. Morover, early adults watch internet for 7 and 5 hours.

Turning to the remaining figures, it can be seen that the adults of age group 26-30 years spent same time on internet on the basis of sex. However, the average hours spent by men and women of category of 31-50 years and 51+ spend almost identical time on internet which was 3, 4 and 2 and 3 respectively.
