IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The table gives information about the average hours spent on the Internet by European people of different age groups.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The table illustrates average amount of time spent on the internet by European males and females across different age groups.

Overall, males spent more time on the internet

than females in most age groups. The figures also show that participation varied considerably according to age, with the highest averages recorded among younger adults.

Among pepole aged 11-15, males spent and average of 8 hours ,compared with 6 hours for females. a contrasting pattern can be seen in the 16-20 group, were the figures rises upto

19 hours for males and 18 hours for females which is slightly less compared to males .

However,the overall average time continues to decrease for both males and females and reach lowest at age group of 51 and above

with the figure of 2 hours for males and 3 hours for females.

in conclusion the data suggests that both male and female are tend to be engaged on the internet while they are young and as they get older the overall average amount of time spent on the internet decreases.
