Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The student successfully covers all parts of the task by reporting the main features of the table and making relevant comparisons. An overview is provided, noting the general trends such as male dominance among younger groups and the crossover in later categories. Data is accurately cited from the table, such as the peak at ages 16-20 (19 hours for males and 18 for females) and the lowest figures in the 51+ bracket (2 and 3 hours respectively). The progression of the data is well-reported, although the structure of the overview could be slightly more polished. Overall, the response meets all the requirements for Task Achievement at a solid Band 7.0 level.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The response is logically organised into clear paragraphs, starting with an introduction, followed by an overview, and then detailed body paragraphs. Cohesive devices are used to guide the reader through the data, such as 'Overall', 'whereas', 'Followed by', and 'In their late twenties'. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical or awkward, such as 'At the last, in the starting of their fifties'. Paragraphing is used appropriately, and there is a clear logical progression throughout the description of the different age groups. This performance fits comfortably within the Band 6.5 to 7.0 descriptor range, and is awarded a 6.5 due to minor awkwardness in cohesion.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common phrases such as 'outnumbered', 'downward trend', and 'significant fall'. However, there are some noticeable word choice and collocation inaccuracies, such as 'girls users', 'bothe the number', and 'in the starting of the teenage period' instead of 'at the beginning'. Spelling errors like 'bothe' and 'tabout' also occur. Despite these slips, communication is never impeded, and the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the numerical data accurately, earning a Band 6.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The writer employs a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, including relative clauses ('which was between 11 and 15 years old') and comparative forms ('male people outnumbered the females'). There are several grammatical errors and awkward phrasing instances, such as 'illustrates the information about how many hours', 'the number of internet users was same', and 'two people, while the females were only 3'. Punctuation and article errors also appear occasionally. Nonetheless, the majority of sentences are understandable, and complex forms are attempted with reasonable control, justifying a Band 6.0 score.
