IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The table gives information about the average hours spent on the Internet by European people of different age groups.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The given table illustrates the average number of hours Europeans across six different age groups spend on the internet, categorized by gender.

Overall, internet usage dramatically peaks among teenagers aged 16 to 20 for both males and females. Additionally, men spend more time on internet than women in the younger age brackets, whereas female spend more time than male on internet in older demographics.

Younger age groups are demonstrated high amount of time spent online. Adolacents aged 16-20 recorded the highest usage pattern with 19 males and 18 females. Among 11-15 boys spend average 2 hours more than girls. Meanwhile, youths aged between 21-25 using internet in moderate way with a mean of 7 hours by male and 5 hours by female.

On the other hand, age cluster between 26-30 spending equal amount of time by both male and female with an average 4 hours. Although, age strata of 31-50 female dominating the time spent on internet than men with an average of 1 hour. The older people aged 51+ female are more interested to spent their time on internet with 3 hours compared to men, who spent 2 hours.
