IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The table gives information about the average hours spent on the Internet by European people of different age groups.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The table illustrates the average of hours which people of Europe spent on the internet, the data is broken into the age segments.

Overall, people in the age bracket of 16 and 20 use more internet than any other age group, however age group of 51+ spent lesser time than any other age bracket.

The age group of 11 and 15 years, male spent 8 hours whereas, female spent 6 hours. 16 years and 20 years male spent around 19 hours and female spent 18 hours, there is a significant drop of hours in the age bracket of 21 and 25 years old segment where male are spending 7 hours and female only 2 hours lesser than them.

There is a significant drop of hours in the age group of 26 and 30, where male use internet for 4 hours and also female spent same time as them. The male are with the average of 3 hours and female 4 hours in 31 and 50 years of the age segment and in 51+ male are spending 3 hours and female are using 4 hours.

Moreover, age group of 31 - 50 and 51+ these are the only age group on the table where female are spending more average hours on internet than male.
