IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The table gives information about the average hours spent on the Internet by European people of different age groups.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The table illustrates the proportion of average hours spent by European males and females of different age groups on the internet.

Overall, the higest number of hours spent on the internet were recorded by males and females of the same age group from 16 to 20years. Whereas, the lowest figures accounted for males and females of age group above 51 years.

To begin with, there is maginal decrease in the number of hours spent by males and females that is 8 and 6 hours respectively ranging in the age group of 11-15 years. While, 16-20 years of recorded the maximum number of hours, 19 hours by males and 18 hours by females. However, males use internet for 7 hours whereas females utilise 5 hours of the age group 21-25.

Furthermore, 4 hours are spent by males and females each from 26 to 30 years, followed by age-group 31-50 where 3 hours are spent by males while females use internet for 4 hours. The lowest numbers are recorded by people of 51 years and above, male spent 2 hours whereas female spent 3 hours.
