IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The table gives information about the average hours spent on the Internet by European people of different age groups.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 7.0)

The table provides data about the average number of hours spent online per week by Eurpeean males and females across four age brackets.

Overall, teenagers aged 16-20 devoted the most time to the internet, while usage dropped shraply among people in their mid-twenties. In all age groups expcet the oldest, males spent slightly more time online than females.

For the 11-15 age group, boys allocated an average of 8 hours to internet use, marginally higher than the 6 hours recorded for girls. This figure surged dramatically in the next cohort. both genders in 16-20 bracket showed the highest level of usage, with males dedicating 19 hours and females 18 hours per weeks, more than double the time spent by any other group.

In contrast, internet use declined significantly after the age of 20. Among 21-25 year-old, the average duration fell to 7 hours for men and 5 hours for women. the lowest figures were observed in the 26-30 group, where both sexes invested an identical 4 hours online, respersenting the only age category with no gender disparity.
