Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response covers the main features of the table well, reporting data across the various age groups for both males and females. The writer correctly identifies the 16-20 age group as having the highest internet usage (19 hours for males and 18 for females) and notes the lowest usage among the 51+ group. However, there is some minor misinterpretation of the data points, such as stating the 21-25 group uses '5 to 7 hours' when the table explicitly lists 7 for males and 5 for females, and stating the 26-30 and 31-50 groups spend 'almost 4 hours' when they actually range from 2 to 4 hours. Additionally, the writer introduces outside speculation not presented in the data (e.g., 'because they are more involved in the social life'). Overall, it addresses the prompt adequately but slips slightly into speculation and minor inaccuracy.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response attempts a logical progression by moving sequentially through the age groups presented in the table. However, paragraphing is severely neglected; the entire essay is written as a single block of text rather than distinct paragraphs with an introduction, overview, and body paragraphs. Cohesive devices are basic and repetitive, frequently relying on simple sequencing words like 'then' or conversational transitional phrases such as 'first we talk about'. Referencing is also weak at times, making the overall organization feel somewhat mechanical and lacking a clear introductory overview statement.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is relatively basic and repetitive, with frequent reliance on simple words like 'time', 'people', and 'spent'. There are several spelling mistakes and non-standard word choices, such as 'abou' instead of 'about', 'europen', 'concidered', 'entertainments', 'how are involving', and 'social lifes'. While the writer attempts some less common vocabulary related to the topic (e.g., 'professions', 'business persons'), inaccuracies in word formation and collocation limit the range and clarity. Communication is generally maintained despite these errors, landing it solidly in the band 5 range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The grammatical range is quite limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences and repetitive structures (e.g., 'Their watch time is...', 'they use most of the internet and spent most of the time...'). There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including tense inconsistencies ('spent', 'use', 'got aged'), missing auxiliary verbs ('are by the people'), and awkward relative clauses ('how are involving into there jobs'). Punctuation is also problematic, with sentences starting without capital letters and missing full stops at the end. These frequent errors cause some difficulty for the reader.
