Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

The response achieves a partial overview by stating that males generally spend more time on the internet and that usage declines with age. However, the word count requirement is not met, as the response falls short of the 150-word minimum at 148 words. Furthermore, the selection of data is somewhat inaccurate and incomplete; for instance, the claim that females in their 30s always remain one hour more than males contradicts the table, which shows equal hours for both males and females in the 26-30 age group. The information is presented in a somewhat repetitive manner with limited development, restricting the score at this level.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response displays some organization with an introductory sentence and basic concluding thoughts, but there is no clear overall progression. Paragraphing is rudimentary and ideas tend to repeat rather than advance logically. Cohesive devices are minimal, mechanical, or inaccurate, such as using 'Whereas' inappropriately to link clauses or relying on repetitive transitional phrases. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, such as the ambiguous shift to second-person pronouns ('During your 30s', 'as you becomes older'), which disrupts the flow and cohesion of an academic report.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and barely adequate for the task, with noticeable word choice and spelling errors that occasionally impede understanding. Examples include spelling mistakes like 'Europen' instead of 'European' and 'significanlty' instead of 'significantly', as well as awkward phrasing such as 'trend falls massively and it keep decreases'. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, but issues with word forms, such as 'your teenagers years' instead of 'your teenage years', demonstrate a restricted range that matches the band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The text shows a very limited range of sentence structures, with frequent grammatical errors. Simple sentences dominate, and attempts at complex structures are often faulty, such as in the opening sentence: 'The table illustrates information about Europen people how much time they spend on the internet by different age groups.' There are frequent errors in subject-verb agreement, such as 'Table show', 'number surged', and 'trend falls... it keep decreases', alongside incorrect prepositions and awkward tense usage. These errors occur throughout the text and cause some difficulty for the reader.
