Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
Your response falls below the required word length, as it contains only 125 words against the 150-word minimum. While you attempt to present data from the table, such as mentioning the 11 to 15 age group with eight male and six female students, the reporting is minimal and tangential in places. You miss a clear overall overview of the main trends shown in the data. Furthermore, there are inaccuracies in your reading of the figures; for instance, the 16 to 20 age group actually shows 19 males and 18 females, but your data selection lacks a cohesive structure. To reach a higher level, you must meet the word count requirement, provide a clear overview of the main trends before detailing specific data points, and ensure all figures are reported accurately.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
Your writing shows some organization, but there is no clear overall progression from beginning to end. You attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'Morever', 'Furthermore', and 'Above fifty years', but these links are often mechanical or inaccurate, and paragraphing is entirely absent as the text is written as a single block. Referencing between ideas can also be unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the flow of information smoothly. To improve in this area, you should divide your essay into logical paragraphs, starting with an introduction and overview, followed by grouped body paragraphs with accurate and natural cohesive links.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is basic and repetitive, relying heavily on simple phrases like 'students', 'ratio', and 'spend time on internet'. There are noticeable lexical errors, such as 'aveage' (spelling), 'ninteen' (spelling), and awkward phrasing like 'the peak aveage time spending'. Additionally, you shift terminology by introducing 'social media' when the prompt only refers to 'the Internet'. The limited range of vocabulary and these recurring errors cause some difficulty and strain for the reader. To improve, you need to expand your range of vocabulary, use less common lexical items accurately, and pay close attention to spelling and precise word choice.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You demonstrate a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying mostly on simple sentences with frequent errors in basic grammar, punctuation, and prepositions. Examples include missing articles and prepositions in phrases like 'Between the age of eleven to fifteen', 'Eight male and six female students spent hours on internet', and 'the ratio is declined'. Attempts at complex structures are often faulty, and errors are frequent enough to occasionally distort meaning or cause difficulty for the reader. To achieve a higher band, you must improve your control over basic sentence construction, verb forms, and subject-verb agreement while incorporating a wider variety of accurate complex sentences.
