Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

The response addresses the task only minimally and tangentially, which places it at this level. Rather than summarising the main features and making relevant comparisons across the age groups as instructed, the student attempts to list almost every individual data point for males and females. Furthermore, the attempt at an overview is flawed; it misinterprets the table's structure by stating 'the table has 4options number one is age', and calculates incorrect totals ('the total numbers of males are 43 and 40 womens'). While some figures are mentioned from the chart, the lack of a proper overview and the failure to select and report key trends mean the response does not meet the higher requirements of task achievement.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

Information and ideas are not arranged coherently throughout the response. The text is broken down into disjointed paragraphs that read more like a fragmented list than a structured report. There is no clear logical progression guiding the reader from the introduction through an overview to specific details. Cohesive devices are minimal and mechanical, relying on repetitive sentence beginnings such as 'at age 11 to 15', 'six girls', and punctuation is handled poorly with erratic spacing and commas. Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal organization of each section lacks cohesion, causing the information to feel disjointed and difficult to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, struggling to adequately convey the data from the visual prompt. The student relies heavily on simple words and phrases such as 'spend their time on internet', 'boys', 'girls', 'mans', and 'womens'. There are noticeable word choice and morphological errors, such as using 'options' instead of columns or categories, and incorrect plurals like 'mens' and 'womens'. These lexical inadequacies and spelling errors occasionally strain the reader, reflecting a limited vocabulary range that restricts the precision needed for an academic task report.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The grammatical range is very limited, consisting mostly of simple, repetitive sentence structures listing individual statistics, such as '7 man with age of 21-25'. Attempts at more complex phrasing or varied structures are largely absent. Errors are frequent across multiple areas, including subject-verb agreement ('19 males ... uses internet'), incorrect prepositions ('at age 11', 'with age of'), and missing articles. Punctuation errors, such as spaces before commas and missing periods, are also prevalent. These frequent grammatical inaccuracies and restricted structures cause regular difficulty for the reader and distort meaning in places.
