Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses the task partially and attempts to provide an overview along with some specific figures from the table. However, the data selection and reporting are rather mechanical and confusing in places. For instance, phrases like "There is 7 counts of 11 to 25 years old" misinterpret the dataset by grouping distinct age brackets incorrectly, and terms such as "ratio" and "counts" are used instead of actual hours. While an overview is present at the end noting that the 16-20 age group spent the maximum time online and 51+ spent the least, the lack of clarity and recurring data inaccuracies mean the response only partially satisfies the requirements of this level.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is some organisation in the essay, with separate paragraphs attempting to handle male data, female data, and an overall summary. However, there is no clear overall progression, and the arrangement feels disjointed. Cohesive devices are used awkwardly or repetitively, such as the abrupt transition "On the other hand, age of girls from 11 to 15 have 6 ration". Paragraphing is attempted, but referencing between sentences is frequently unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the flow of information smoothly from one point to the next.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The vocabulary used is limited and frequently inappropriate for an academic task report. The student repeatedly uses non-standard terms such as "counts", "ratio", and "ager groups" instead of appropriate statistical or descriptive language. There are also awkward collocations like "use the cyberspace" and "use web by 51 +". While the language is minimally adequate to convey the general topic of internet usage, the noticeable lexical errors and lack of precision reflect the constraints of this band level.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The writing displays a very limited range of sentence structures, relying heavily on simple clauses and repetitive patterns. Attempts at more complex constructions result in frequent grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ("There is 7 counts", "age of girls ... have 6 ration") and missing articles or prepositions ("use web by 51 +"). These frequent errors in grammar and syntactic structure cause some difficulty for the reader and prevent the response from achieving a higher rating.
