Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

The response successfully covers all parts of the task by reporting the main features and making relevant comparisons across age groups and genders. An overview is provided, highlighting the extreme categories accurately, noting that 16-20 year-olds spent the most time and those aged 51 and above spent the least. Key details from the table are properly cited, such as the peak figures of 19 hours for males and 18 hours for females in the 16-20 bracket, and the equal hours of 4 reported for both genders aged 26-30. However, some parts of the data are treated with a slightly mechanical listing approach rather than full extension, pointing towards the characteristics of the band. The selection of data is generally accurate, and the response demonstrates a clear understanding of the visual information, though further synthesis of the trends would elevate the report to the next level.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The text presents a coherent overall arrangement with a logical progression from an introductory statement to a clear overview paragraph, followed by detailed body paragraphs. Paragraphing is used appropriately to group related data categories. Cohesive devices are employed to connect ideas, such as 'Overall', 'To begin with', 'Moreover', and 'Furthermore'. However, referencing and cohesion are at times slightly repetitive or mechanical, particularly in the structure of the data-reporting sentences in the body paragraphs. Pronoun referencing and substitution could be more varied to ensure smoother transitions between sentences. Nevertheless, the progression of information remains clear throughout, meeting the requirements of this band while indicating room for greater flexibility in referencing.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing the student to communicate the main points and figures clearly. There are appropriate attempts at less common vocabulary related to data reporting, such as 'illustrates', 'population', 'accounted to', and 'genders'. However, there are notable word choice and phrasing inaccuracies, such as 'Euporean' (spelling error), 'time spent on internet' (missing article), 'males of 11 to 15 age group' (awkward phrasing), and 'ladies' (informal tone for an academic task). While these errors do not impede overall communication, they restrict the vocabulary score, as precision and style in word choice remain limited. To improve, the student should focus on accurate prepositions, academic phrasing, and correct spelling.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response features a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating attempts at subordinate clauses and comparative structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors in verb voice, prepositions, and sentence construction. Examples include passive and active voice confusion such as '16-20 age group males were spent 19 hours' and 'while by men only 3 hours were spent', incorrect prepositional phrasing like 'spent time age group between 26-30', and missing articles in phrases like 'spent least amount of time'. These errors indicate a limited control of complex structures, causing some stumbling for the reader while still allowing the core meaning to be understood. Greater attention to subject-verb agreement, active versus passive voice consistency, and article usage is required to achieve higher accuracy.
